I’m always in a rush to finish. Why the rush? I have no idea. I don’t like to do the actual finishing, as in sewing in ends and sewing on buttons, etc. So why the rush to get there?!
I am trying to enjoy the journey, which I do while actually knitting, it’s the in-between times that are the problem.
So here I am trying to enjoy knitting a bit on each of these projects.
First up is the Mermaid Avenue Socks by Summer Lee. It is cuff down with a flap heel. So, of course, I am knitting it toe up with a short row heel!

Even though the stitch pattern from her pattern is upside down, they still look like scales to me, so all good.
To continue my colour knitting I’m working on the Aert Mitts by Gudrun Johnston.

As you can see I didn’t do a good job of choosing colours. The blue is way too pale and the pattern can’t be seen. These are my colours. All fairly bright except for that blue.

I’m going to rip it back and substitute the navy for the pale blue. You agree?
Next is the Windward scarf by Heidi Kirrmaier. This was tv knitting for me so I’m much further ahead. You do have to pay attention at the edge of each triangle or parallelogram, but there is an excellent written chart for that. Here’s how the middle section is worked. Amazing, eh?

Working a little bit each day will get me there. No rush!
Cheers, Deb

I love your mermaids! Looks like you still use dpn’s. I just can;t get used to knitting with magic loop or 2 cable needles. When it comes to the gusset(my latest cuss word) i get lost . So I go the old way which is poo poo’d by so many.
My present WIP is a summer top from the Need a Circular Yoke Book…I go back to that book time and time again.
I had a long medical treatment this spring and needed waiting room projects to take every day and finished a scrunchable scarf and worked on a few beanies. Somehow I love having a long project a few easy fast portable projects on the needles.
It is always great to reat the blog,Deb , and hear about what you’ve been up to.

Great to hear from you. It’s dpns for me most of the time still. Sometimes, the old ways are still the best!
I have the Need a Circular Yoke out on my desk. I might dive in there soon. Good for summer knits.
I hope you are feeling well. Cheers.

Great to hear from you. I am also going to Crack the Need a Circular Yoke soon. Working on a summer wardrobe. Your idea of one long and several small projects is something I need to adopt. Hope you are feeling well. Cheers.

Deb: You are so ambitious! Having three projects on the go…Maybe that is what I need to do to get some of my WIPs completed! Thanks for the inspiration! Linda

Several projects are what works for me. All different, some big and some small is the best set up. My mistake last time was they were all big. Lesson learned.

Yes, or you could swap out the gold and the light blue, which would look fine against the mid-value green.

Thanks for that idea. So far I am definitely taking the pale blue out.

I am exactly the same, in a rush to get finished and start the next thing… but hate the steps of actually finishing!
I have to unravel and reknit some cuffs and I’m putting it off like mad. Working on a nice stripey jumper instead (and carrying yarns to avoid excess ends…)

We belong to the same club. Fixing knits can take me a year, although I’m so happy once it’s done. Crazy.

Hi Deb! Looks as if we’re using s very similar stitch pattern on our socks, and very similar yarn! Fun.

OMG – must have been channeling you. I just picked out the yarn to knit Mermaid Ave Socks during my travels next week. Have it all in a bag and I’ll be casting on the toes this weekend to be ready for the airport/plane knitting on Monday.
