It’s a new year

I am coming to you from my local library since our internet at home went out before Christmas and now won’t be up for another couple weeks. We’ve been reading lots of books. Not a bad thing but it’s somewhat unsettling to be without the world wide web.

But look, I finished my Saddle Up pullover. Yahoo.

I would have liked to make the neckband deeper but I ran out of wool. I bought it in Scotland about 30 years ago so … there is no more. Yes, it was a deep dive into my stash but I’m so glad to finally have a sweater out of it. Ha, ha, about time, wouldn’t you say!

Did you make a knitting New Years resolution?

This is my New Years resolution for 2022: knit only from my stash. I’ve unfollowed all wool dryers from my Instagram account so I won’t be tempted. Ugh, that was really hard to do. How about you? Do you have knitting plans for the new year?

It’s a new year. All the best to you and yours in 2022. Cheers, Deb

I'm a Knitter. The capital K means every day, everywhere. I'm co-owner of Cabin Fever with my sister Lyn. We have published over 100 patterns and 11 books. I'm also working on a new set of patterns for Any Gauge knitting. Dive into your stash and cast on for a Top Down sweater that fits, or an accessory to use up those odd balls of yarn.

  1. Deb, your sweater has turned out beautifully! Hope your internet gets up soon, especially since we are in another lockdown! I wish I could keep to using up my stash, but today I bought some chunky marble to do a sweater. I have yarn sickness (lol). We have to keep ourselves busy, right?

  2. The new sweater looks really cozy Deb and I love it! I guess I should get off my duff & get mine done. I’m so glad my internet didn’t go down, most of my books are audio books & ebooks that I download these days. My thumbs are so painful I just can’t hold books for very long anymore. Gosh, even my jigsaws are on the internet!!
I agree with you about shopping from stash. I should do the same thing since I have more bins of stash than I will ever use up in my life at the moment . . . .

    1. Being without it shows how much I rely on the internet. I have to stand outside of Tim’s to get a signal, ha, ha.

  3. I’ve said this before to you Deb: I am a timid knitter. With the help of Cabin Fever I have moved a bit beyond “beginner”. I’ve always been so intimidated by the saddle sweaters. This is the first time I’ve been seriously tempted to attempt one. THIS IS GORGEOUS!!! You are such an inspiration!!!

    1. Thanks. There are very good reasons for progressing at your own speed. It’s taken me a very long time to get to writing these kind of patterns. Carry on, carrying on!
